Dr. Allison Aiello is a Professor of Epidemiology at UNC’s Gillings School of Global Public Health. She earned her Ph.D. with distinction from Columbia University and received the Ana C. Gelman Award for excellence in epidemiology. Her research focuses on psychosocial and socioeconomic health disparities, infection-related chronic diseases, and community-level infection prevention. Dr. Aiello has led pioneering work on the links between social stressors, immune response, and infection burden, including disparities in cytomegalovirus outcomes. She currently leads multiple NIH-funded studies exploring social, behavioral, biological, and genetic determinants of health.
